ANGLO saga takes to the stage

ANGLO SAGA TAKES
TO THE STAGE:

It had to happen! The saga of the infamous Anglo-Irish Bank financial shenanigans
which collapsed the Irish "Celtic Tiger" economy in 2008 has been turned into a musical  which will be staged at the BGET(formerly the Grand Canal Theatre) on the
south bank of the Liffey in Dublin from 13th to 25th of November.

Written by Paul Howard and based on an original story by Johnny Morrison, Darren Smith and Colm Tobin, this is the funny side of Celtic Tiger Ireland. ANGLO: The Musical charts the dramatic rise and fall of a nation via a cast of puppets, bankers, politicians, developers and even the odd human being… !

According to the producers, the musical "is a story about love, ambition, greed, corruption, economic meltdown and copious amounts of decking and pesto, all of which is told through a love story between a pure and innocent Cailín Deas and…a boy. With song’s like “Put A Zero On The End, He’s A Friend”, “Everyone’s Gotta Cousin” and “Where Have All The Fat Telly’s Gone?”,  it is the sincere wish of the creators that this show be placed on the Leaving Cert curriculum for decades to come".

The mixture of live actors and large puppets is repeated in this show and can be previewed

The voice of the Bertie Ahern character is performed by Dave O'Meara who also has recently been filming a part in the BBC's forthcoming new "Jack the Ripper" TV series
which debuts later this month and has been filmed on location in Dublin this summer.
